- Annual all-singing one week summer school for solo and choral singers and piano accompanists at Eastbourne College, Eastbourne, Sussex, from August 18th - 25th 2013. Choral courses in 2013 will concentrate on works by composers who have anniversaries this year, featuring the "Spring Symphomy" by Britten, and "Gloria" by Poulenc, alongside "The Seasons" by Haydn. There will also be classes of Madrigals, Partsongs, Edward German's "Merrie England" and lighter choral works.
For solo singers there will be 6 staged Opera scenes, a Cabaret Course, Music Theatre course, Parlour Music, and a semi-staged performance of Carissimi's "Jephte", as well as individual coaching in Artsong, Early Music, Opera and Oratorio arias.
There will be visits by internationally known singers to give Recitals and Masterclasses, including John Shirley Quirk and Sophie Daneman for singers, and Julius Drake for the student pianists.
The opening Gala Recital on Sunday 18th August will be given by mezzosoprano Catherine Wyn-Rogers, accompanied by Eugene Asti.
The singing classes will be taken by a renowned group of 25 Singing Professors and 25 House-pianists. There will be a sung service of Compline in Chapel; and several relaxing evenings including a Karaoke night. See the website for the feed-back comments from the Students who attended in recent years.
