Danehill Parish Historical Society

  • Local history society
  • Meetings are held at 8pm in the Danehill Memorial Hall on the last Tuesday of the month, unless otherwise stated. Visitors are welcome unless specifically for Members only. There is a small fee for Visitors at open meetings. The programme is subject to alteration or modification.


    26 Jan - The Volk Railway - Ian Gledhill

    23 Feb - The Lives and Loves of the Three Earls of Sheffield - Malcolm Lill

    30 Mar - The Architecture of Houses in East Sussex - David Martin

    27 April - Updating Sussex Pevsner - Nicholas Antrim

    25 May - Visit to Tanyard Farm - By kind invitation of Mr & Mrs Irwin Members only, meet at 7.30 p.m

    29 June - Visit to Colin Godmans - By kind invitation of Mr & Mrs Manweiler - Meet at 7.30 p.m, Members only

    27 July - Visit to Cumnor House School - By kind invitation of Mr Heinrich, Headmaster - meet 7.30 p.m. Members only

    There is no meeting in August.

    28 Sept - Annual General Meeting and a talk - (to be announced)

    26 Oct - History of the Early Baptist Church - Dr Bax

    30 Nov - The Battle of Lewes - Philip Marshall

    FRIDAY 10 Dec - Christmas Party and Buffet - to start at 7.30 p.m - Members are asked to provide the food and Raffle. Members only.
