Ditchling Fair (DF)

• The Ditchling Fair is organised by the Ditchling Fair Committee, part of the Ditchling Village Association as a bi-annual event for the village held on the third Saturday in June every other year. The fair celebrates its 700th anniversary on 16 June 2012.
• The next Ditchling Village Fair will be held on 16th June 2012. This will be a special Fair because its 700th year since the Royal Charter was granted to Ditchling, hence the reason for this extra special event. Building on the success of the previous fairs, the committee is keen on the idea of an 'inclusive' for Fair 2012. This will mean a Fair that will be organised - and reflects all the communities and people we have in Ditchling: - business community, families, young people, dog walking community, Ditchling born-and-bred, Senior citizens, commuters and all the those wonderful odds and evens of people who make Ditchling the community it is, whilst not forgetting the many associations and societies that are at the heart of its foundations. There may be less than 2500 of us in Ditchling but we are all special!

• Presently the last fair committee are looking at making the mechanics behind the Fair process easier and as accessible as possible for Ditchling villagers. We are looking at all the feedback from the previous Fair and are discussing the organisational structure of the Committee to create a clear structure of people in specific posts depending to their own level of involvement and time investment. If we are going to have special Fair in 2012 that reflects the 700th year of the Royal Charter we need a strong, multi-skilled and committed core group.
