Emergency Duty Service (East Sussex Childrens Services) (EDS)

  • Works outside of normal office hours. Including nights, weekends and public holidays to respond to emergency situations that cannot wait until other Teams are able to respond during normal hours.
  • The Emergency Duty Service (EDS) number, which provides a generic service across
    East Sussex and Brighton and Hove to any service user experiencing a crisis out of office
    hours, stopped on Monday 10 May. A new number is now in place for adult social care:
    01323 636399.
    The new Adult Social Care EDS will be managed by Sharon Hamlin, and will respond
    to emergency social care matters, Mental Health Act assessments and safeguarding
    vulnerable adult investigations in East Sussex.
    The new children’s EDS will be managed by Dave Sugg and will respond to Child
    Protection and urgent Child in Need assessments in East Sussex and Brighton and Hove:
    01273 335905/6.
    Emergencies arising in Brighton and Hove which concern adult social care and mental
    health will be met by new services being developed in Brighton and Hove, and callers
    should be referred to 01273 295555.
