Flexible Learning Educational Support Service (FLESS)

• Supports children unable to attend school due to medical reasons and monitors the educational provision of children & young people who are electively home educated.
• FLESS supports schools in their duty to provide education to sick children and monitors families who elect to home educate.
  
  Children must have been absent from school for more than 15 consecutive days.
  
  Referral is by hospital consultant or school teacher; a letter from the hospital consultant must confirm a child's illness.
