Hastings & District Interfaith Forum

  • HASTINGS AND DISTRICT INTERFAITH FORUM

    Aims and Objectives

    1. To engage in dialogue which promotes mutual respect and understanding amongst the faith communities, without diminishing or diluting the traditions represented or seeking to proselytise.

    2. To foster friendship and understanding between people of faith.

    3. To promote educational projects and events whereby faiths can teach others about their beliefs and diminish prejudice, ignorance, fear and misunderstanding.

    4. To work together for the solution of problems experienced by local faith communities in the practice of their religion.

    5. To work on agreed projects for the common good of the local community.

    6. To co-operate with other groups and networks with similar aims and facilitate good communication between faith and community groups

    7. To influence decision making processes and promote the positive role of religious faith in community life, by engaging with statutory and voluntary bodies.


    PROGRAMME FOR THE REMAINDER OF 2010

    1st August, Sunday – St Leonards Gardens 2:00-6:00pm - to be opened by the Mayor
    A Garden Full of Asian Delights – experience Middle Eastern and Asian Food and Music in beautiful St Leonards Gardens. Talent Competition, recipe sheets, activities for young children – all organised with support from Hastings Intercultural Organisation and The Burton St Leonards Society.

    14th September, Tuesday – WRVS 6:30-9:00pm:
    A multi-faith school community – invitation to the Head of Christchurch Primary
    School. Presentation from the Association of Carers.

    9th October, Saturday – St Mary in the Castle 3:00 – 6:00pm
    Hastings Got Culture 2010 - a vibrant celebration of diversity along with Youth organisations and other partners – part of the BELIEVE youth project.

    16th November, Tuesday – WRVS 6:30-9:00pm: Annual General Meeting

    5th December, Sunday – venue and timings TBC:
    Food and Friendship – a gathering to celebrate African Foods and Music with support from Hastings Intercultural Organisation.
