Southern Solar's - Grant Information
- Southern Solar has installed several Solar Photovoltaic (Electricity) and Solar Thermal (Hot Water) systems for our school customers’ recently using 100% grant funding to cover the entire system cost. These systems offer important enhancements to the learning experience of the students and local community. Additionally they are an integral part of the schools’ physical plant, and significantly reduce energy expenses.
There are two grant funding schemes currently available for solar photovoltaic (electricity) and solar thermal (hot water) projects at schools. Southern Solar will assist you in making a successful application through both schemes to achieve 100% funding for your solar project. The two streams are:
The Low Carbon Building Programme Phase II (LCBP 2) application process is managed by BRE http://www.lowcarbonbuildingsphase2.org.uk Southern Solar (through SML) is a “Framework Supplier” under this program for solar hot water systems. We work through British Gas to provide funding for solar electric systems. LCBP2 will fund up to 50% of a system supplying up to 50kW of electricity. Maximum grant allowed is £1,000,000. The LCBP 2 grant program ends mid 2009.
The Community Sustainable Energy Programme (CSEP) application process is also managed by BRE http://www.communitysustainable.org.uk. Capital grants are available for £50,000 or 50% of the project cost, whichever is lower. The grants are competitive and awarded 4 times each year. Your application can be made online, but be aware that extra supporting documentation will be required – some of it in hard copy. The panel will meet about a month after the application deadline. Applicants will be notified about 10 days after this meeting regarding the success of their application.
