Occupational Therapy Clinics.
The Occupational Therapy services have developed clinics across the County to offer timely assessments and solutions for people whose needs can be met with low level equipment and or adaptations. They are based at the Phoenix Centre (Lewes), the Charter Centre (Bexhill) and at Sandbanks (Hailsham).
The Clinic model is based on a preventative approach to solving and managing some of the problems encountered by disabled people within of East Sussex. The Occupational Therapy staff will look at how clients manage their daily activities, such as washing, accessing the toilet and managing steps and stairs. Following this functional assessment, clients will be able to trial or have demonstrated pieces of equipment, available at the clinic venues, and small aids that may be useful to them.
Staff may offer advice, equipment or minor works to improve the home environment and support the person to be safer and to increase their independence.
The clinics are also open to those clients who are looking for information and advice only, on equipment or to help them make decisions on adapting their home, housing options and advice to carers.
The clinics are open to both new and existing clients and can be accessed via Health and Social Care Connect or by an ESCC case worker.
