FirstStop - Advice for Older People

We are an independent, free service that could provide you with advice and information if you are an older person, member of their family or their carer about housing and care options in later life. We also offer useful information for carers looking for support and advice. We are run by the Elderly Accommodation Counsel (EAC), in partnership with other national and local organisations.

FirstStop could provide you with advice on:

• Care and support - in your own home, in specialist housing or in a care home.
• Housing services to help you 'stay put' successfully, and information about all the options if you choose to move somewhere more suitable.
• Finance - including paying for care, benefits and allowances, Council and NHS funding, insurances, financial planning and financial products.
• Your rights - the law, standards you should expect, and how to get them. FirstStop aims to promote independence, dignity and choice for older people.
