The Crew Club

All children, young people and families living in Whitehawk and the surrounding neighbourhoods have talent, strength and dreams. The Crew Club is a safe space where our members have the freedom to explore, create, learn and challenge themselves to make a difference in their own lives and those in the wider community. It is important to us that local people get equal benefit from living in Brighton and Hove, our city by the sea, so we provide support and resources for locals to have their say, organise, campaign and advocate for change and reduce inequality and unfairness.

• Kids.  The Crew Club is proud to support the development of children and provides a wide range of fun activities for 7 to 11 year olds. The core of this work is our Crew Kidz provision, a project that runs twice a week and provides many opportunities to be creative, learn new skills, explore self-expression, interact with others, and have access to positive role models.
• Teens.  The Crew Club is proud to support the development of teenagers and provides a wide range of support for them. This support can be through, youth sessions, sporting opportunities, music production, girls groups, a youth council, and trips out. The Crew Club provides opportunities for teenagers to interact with friends, and access positive role models.
• Sport.  The Crew Club understands the enormous benefits of taking part in sport and physical activity. Our programmes and sessions aim to support the physical, mental, and social needs of our members. Our staff team deliver a wide range of sports on a weekly basis. We also work in partnership with sporting bodies such as Crew Club Hawks FC, England Netball, Tennis Sussex, East Brighton Amateur Boxing Club and Value Your Development (VYD).
• Music.  The Crew Club’s Music Programmes are a fundamental part of our work. It is a great way for children and young people to express themselves and be creative. Many of the young people we work with face barriers to learning and music is a great area that can give back confidence and self-belief to our members. There are many opportunities at The Crew Club through our Hawks Sounds project.
• Health.  The Crew Club provides a range of opportunities to support people’s health and levels of fitness. We are passionate about supporting people to move more so they feel better within themselves. We also understand that any new physical activity can be challenging both physically and mentally.
• Learning.  The Crew Club supports the learning of children and young people in many ways. This can be through music, sport, cooking, and homework clubs. We have also worked with local colleges and funders to help local young people access tutoring opportunities.
