The Leward Centre is a safe and inspiring place for the LGBTQ+ communities and their friends.
Named after James Ledward, one of the city’s most prominent supporters of LGBTQ+ rights, this space is a lasting tribute to his memory and the contributions he made towards our entire community.
Our café is open for business 10:30am-4:30pm Tuesday – Saturday and 10:30am – 4:00pm on Sundays. Serving hot and cold drinks and snacks, it’s the ideal spot to catch up with friends, watch the world go by or meet some of our Ledward Centre family.
We have a pay-it-forward board whereby those with extra can donate a coffee for someone else in the community who needs one.
There are a variety of regular and irregular meetups and events taking place in the café, we are dog and family friendly.
We are always seeking volunteers and have a number of roles:
We aim for volunteering to be fun and sociable and are happy to adapt responsibilities to volunteers needs and abilities. Volunteers are never expected to work alone – there is always a paid staff member present while the centre is open to the public.
