Shine Car Valet Service

Shine is a car valet service located at County Hall, Lewes and St. Mary’s House, Eastbourne.  The car valet service is temporarily closed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Shine will reopen as soon as is possible.

We provide a not-for-profit innovative training opportunity for adults with a learning disability, arranged and supported by Learning Disability Services within East Sussex County Council. Shine is one of the Skills Development and Employment Pathway projects (SDEP). 

At Shine the aim is for trainees to gain skills that will increase their independence and give them the opportunity to move on to other voluntary roles or employment.
The service facilitates a positive public role for adults with a learning disability and raises awareness of their skills and employability.
Trainees experience working with other people, time keeping, customer service, money handling and of course how to clean the interior and exterior of the cars (to perfection).
Customer feedback has been consistently positive, and the trainees get many benefits from the job, including learning skills, making new friends, and increased confidence.
