Supported Internships with Plumpton College - new courses start September 2018 for students aged 18-24 years old who have an EHC plan or statement and in their final year of study
Supported Internships are one year study programmes with the core aim being to find paid, sustainable work. Programmes run from two bases - one in Lewes and the other in Hastings.
Students will have a variety of work-based opportunities to build on their transferable skills such as personal behaviour for success, Health & Safety awareness, team building, working relationships and solving work related problems. Most courses are land-based but students have opportunities for placements in retail and catering where appropriate. Students initially work 1-to-1 with a job coach to help them learn key career skills.
The Internship is a very person-centred programme where every student will be offered a 6 month work placement within a business where there is the likelihood of paid work coming up. There are close partnerships with businesses, charities and other organisations who all understand the benefits of the programme and work with adult social care services to develop students' independence and move them towards paid work.
