Parent and Carer Workshop: How to reduce anxiety and emotional dysregulation
June 11 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm£10
In order to help your child regain balance and calm, you must first understand the function of their behaviour – what is their body telling you?
Through this understanding – you will be able to help them reset and regulate their nervous system.
First of all, there is no blame … many children (and adults) have never been taught how to return to a ‘safe state’ when they feel stressed or out-of-balance. The aim of this workshop is to provide parents & carers with evidenced-based, practical activities, to calm their anxious child.
What you will Learn:
How the nervous systems works including; the stress and relaxation response.
The effects of stress on the body and how it impacts us; physically, psychologically, and socially.
An introduction to the developmental trauma/stress in children.
Sensory integration – including an awareness of how a child’s behaviour could be linked to sensory dysregulation.
The concept of therapeutic parenting & attachment.
Practical ‘hands-on’ activities:
Sensory Attachment through Play, inc., Thera-Build® with LEGO®;
Child-friendly guided meditation techniques;
Music and Sound therapy;
Applied Relaxation Techniques;
Introduction to kickboxing; and
Sensory processing yoga;
Although this workshop will contain theory – it is heavily practical, so that ideas can be implemented straight away.
So, please wear clothes that are comfortable and you don’t mind getting paint on!
