The School Health Services works closely with health visitors, community paediatricians, schools, colleges and other services from your local community in a range of locations, including mainstream schools, special schools and further education colleges. Our aim is to promote and protect health and wellbeing and prevent ill health.

Our highly trained staff deliver health advice and health promotion to both primary and secondary school aged children, young people and families. We offer  school-based and college-based support for individual pupils and offer additional support to families needing more help where there is a health concern. We will support school staff in developing care plans to enable children with medical conditions to access education. The team run drop-in services in all secondary schools where young people can speak in confidence to a registered nurse on any aspect of health with no appointment necessary. Our staff run regular health promotion events in schools delivering advice on a range of public health issues that affect children and young people.

We carry out immunisations for children and young people throughout their school life, from reception year to year 10. We also provide advice on support and signposting on bedwetting, behaviour, emotional health, puberty and growing up, healthy eating & lifestyle, sexual health, and stopping smoking.
