A support service for young people aged between 11-18 experiencing mental health issues including depression, anxiety, self-harm and eating disorders. Other issues such as risky behaviour and problems at school are also covered. The service is for young people who have experienced a significant loss or change in their lives, such as separation of parents, bereavement, bullying and family issues. We offer small peer group support sessions, where young people of similar ages can share their experiences with others who may be going through something similar. Groups are no larger than 6 young people, and each young person is assessed prior to group allocation. Sessions are for one hour per week, over a 10 week period. The sessions work therapeutically to explore losses and changes which have occurred in the young peoples lives, and help the young people to develop resilience and coping mechanisms to take beyond the 8 week sessions and increase self-esteem.
