Description
As the Sovereign's representative in his or her County, the Lord Lieutenant is non-political, is unpaid and holds Office until retirement on their 75th birthday.
The Lord Lieutenant endeavours to use his Office in order to benefit the Community both within the city, towns and rural areas by working to promote a spirit of co-operation and support for the voluntary and benevolent organisations within his County. He acts as an enabler within the arts, industrial and social life of East Sussex and the City of Brighton and Hove. He encourages interest in local projects funded from grant making bodies, including the National Lottery and will always consider lending support to other schemes, which he feels to be of particular importance.
