Brighton & Hove City Council is a unitary local authority covering Brighton, Hove and Portslade.
Stanmer Park is a largely intact 18th Century designed Grade II registered landscape which is historically and nationally significant. The park is a gateway to the South Downs National Park.
The park includes the Grade I listed Stanmer House, plus 25 further Grade II listed buildings and structures and a Walled Garden.
In 2017, Brighton & Hove City Council was awarded £3.8m to restore 20 hectares of the 485-hectare park by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the National Lottery Community Fund. Other project partners include Plumpton College and the South Downs National Park.
The project completed in 2023 there are now new access trails and interpretation, the park has many options for a day out for walking in the park and woodlands, accessing the South Downs National Park, enjoying the variety of catering options. One Garden Brighton in the old walled garden is a free to enter ornamental gardens, café and local produce market.
There are public toilets in the village at the entrance to the park and in the walled garden along with a changing places facility in the walled garden.
There is plenty of paid parking throughout the park with free blue badge parking, the income is ring fenced for the improvement and maintenance of the park.
