About ESCIS

ESCIS stands for East Sussex Community Information Service.

ESCIS is a database of community information and events developed and managed by the Library and Information Service of East Sussex County Council, in association with Brighton and Hove Library Service.

It is a free resource for everyone. Free to list and free to use.

ESCIS can be accessed for free online or by visiting any library in East Sussex or Brighton and Hove.

ESCIS holds information for around 5,000 organisations based in East Sussex and Brighton and Hove. This includes:

  • Information and advice
  • Hobbies and clubs
  • Business advice
  • Places of worship
  • Toddler groups
  • Clubs and societies
  • Environmental groups
  • Sports clubs and facilities
  • Places to visit
  • Local authorities
  • Political parties

We record the name of an organisation, contact details and general information about what the organisation does.

ESCIS also contains information about local events, virtual events and short courses.

You can add a new listing online, but please read our inclusion policy before proceeding.

If you aren’t able to do this, you can ask the ESCIS team for an entry form by email or post, then simply complete the details and return it to us. Forms can also be requested in libraries.

You or your organisation will then receive a letter or an email each year to check that your details are correct. Please keep the ESCIS team informed if your details should change in the meantime.

ESCIS is constantly updated. If you find out of date information please contact us, or ‘Report a change’ by clicking the link at the bottom of the entry.

We can provide information by phone, email or in print upon request.

ESCIS makes email addresses on the website unreadable to ‘spiders’ or ‘crawlers’.
