Supporting Vulnerable Families with Essential Needs.
The Baby Basics project offers a helping hand to new families facing challenges in caring for their newborns. This initiative, affiliated with the national Baby Basics charity network, recognises the various difficulties families may encounter, whether financial or practical.
Building upon the success of the Eastbourne Foodbank's existing Best Start scheme (launched in 2014), Baby Basics provides essential equipment for newborns. This includes Moses baskets filled with baby essentials, plus cots, pushchairs, and other crucial equipment to ensure a smooth start for new parents.
The project thrives on the generosity of the community. Donations of pre-loved items in good condition are gratefully accepted from individuals, companies, and organisations.
To ensure support reaches those who need it most, referrals to Baby Basics will be made exclusively by healthcare professionals already involved with the family, such as midwives, health visitors, social workers, support workers, or GPs. This ensures the project effectively targets families facing specific difficulties.
