Description
Aghh! Zine is a zine created in the heart of Brighton and Hove, UK, in June 2022 by Nuria Castro and MNamug.
Our aims are to create a safe space to discuss and investigate ourselves, society and subjects that are considered taboo or not mainstream. We also aim to give a platform for new voices and easy access to publishing opportunities with a focus on Queer, BIPOC and underrepresented communities.
The theme for our first issue is all about Celebrating Body Hair and is from the perspective of women and non-binary people. The zine is A5 in size, featuring 100 pages of poetry, art, essays, performances, photography and more! It is a beautiful collection showcasing work from 39 contributors from around the world.
Aghh! Zine Issue 02 “Blood” is an A5 zine, featuring sculpture, poetry, art, essays, illustrations, photography and more all on the theme of blood! It is an exquisite and multifaceted collection showcasing work from 62 contributors from around the world, with the majority identifying as being a member of a marginalised identity.
Aghh! Zine Issue 03 “Pleasure” is 120 pages from 54 contributors. Themes of works include asexuality, Queer love, trans experience, pleasure activism, sex, mythology, chronic illness, physical intimacy, disability, everyday pleasures, religion, orgasm, BDSM, wholesome pleasures + more.
Aghh! Zine Issue 04 “Money” will be out on Summer 2026.
We are a BIPOC and LGBTQ+ run.
We also facilitate zine-making and creative writing workshops, and have worked with Writing Our Legacy, The Coast Is Queer and Devil’s Dyke Network.
We struggled to find publications discussing the topics we wanted, ie. body hair on female identifying bodies, so we created the space!
