U3As are self-help, self-managed learning cooperatives of people who are no longer in full time employment, which enable members to share many educational, creative, cultural and leisure interests. U3As deliver these activities in special interest groups. Each U3A has a number of groups covering specific subjects, and each is run by a group leader. A range of interest groups and topics are on offer – ideas for new groups are always welcome. We aim for a friendly and relaxed atmosphere where, with a chance to meet old and new friends, you will be made most welcome.
The Battle and District U3A was formed in 2004 and now has over 270 members and 24 interest groups.
We hold monthly meetings on the first Monday of each month, or if there is a bank holiday then the following Monday, in the Emmanuel Centre, Harrier Lane, Battle, TN33 0FL. Members are welcome from 10am for tea and coffee and a chance to chat to other members. At 10.30 there is normally a talk, usually by a visiting speaker, followed by questions and a discussion. The meeting closes at 12pm.
