An oasis of calm in a busy city.
Helping to transform life through Meditation, Buddhist Study, Mindfulness and Yoga.
At Brighton Buddhist Centre we teach Buddhist meditation and study in a way that is relevant to contemporary life.
We are inspired to create an atmosphere which is conducive to Buddhist spiritual practice. That is, to create in our lives a deep sense of calm, friendship & purpose. And to develop personal and spiritual insight. Everyone is welcome here regardless of your age, race, physical ability, gender or sexuality.
We offer a range of courses from introductory level to progressively more advanced Buddhist practice, which can be booked thought our website, over the phone, or in-person at our reception desk.
The Centre is open every day for drop-in meditation suitable for all levels. No need to book in advance.
Brighton Buddhist Centre is part of Triratna, an International Buddhist School with a world-wide Buddhist community.
There are various supportive practises we can all learn, to develop and support our own Buddhist meditation and study, such as:
All these are wonderful supports for Buddhist meditation and study!
So you are welcome to join any of these classes. You will find these on our weekly and monthly programme here. As the Arts are such an important part of Buddhist practise, our sister charity Evolution Arts was set up in 1992. They offer many of the writing, pilates, mantra, and singing courses and workshops that you will find at Brighton Buddhist Centre. You can find out more about these course and workshops here.
We also offer online early morning meditations and weekly pujas to different Buddhist figures to keep our lives aligned with core Buddhist values such as:
These online sessions are particularly suitable for those who find it difficult to physically access the Centre due to disability, family life and work.
We also offer secular Mindfulness Courses, these too can be booked via our website here.
