We run monthly meet-ups at Hastings Contemporary and De La Warr Pavilion that give carers and those they care for, a social lifeline through art. The dates and locations are on our website: www.drawinglife.org and book your place by emailing Judy: [email protected]
We know from 10 years’ experience that art activities make big differences to peoples’ lives. Many carers have said our sessions are social occasions where they form invaluable friendships with other carers and us. Art opens conversations about memories and achievements - childhood, family, careers. We see participants become visibly fulfilled, communicating however they can, giving carers new subjects to chat about.
One carer told us: “It was just nice to be doing something together that wasn’t a hospital appointment or talking about problems - just being normal or as normal as I can be.”
