Accessibility
Habitus Homecare Ltd is committed to making our service accessible, inclusive and responsive to individual needs.
We recognise that people communicate and process information in different ways. This includes people who are neurodivergent, experiencing mental health challenges, or who may find communication, new situations or environments overwhelming.
We adapt our approach to support this by:
Taking time to communicate at a comfortable pace
Using clear, simple and consistent language
Checking understanding without pressure
Offering information in different formats, including written summaries or simplified versions
Communicating via phone, text or email, depending on individual preference
We also make practical adjustments to reduce anxiety and sensory overwhelm where needed. This may include:
Offering quieter, familiar or neutral environments for assessments
Keeping routines consistent and predictable
Introducing support gradually where possible
Being mindful of sensory sensitivities such as noise, busy environments or too much information at once
With consent, we can involve family members, advocates or other professionals to support communication and ensure information is understood.
Our approach is always person-led. We take time to understand how each individual prefers to communicate and what helps them feel comfortable, and we build this into ongoing support.
If someone is unsure about accessing the service, we are happy to offer an informal conversation first, in a way that feels most accessible to them.
