Description

Shakespeare meets Treasure Island in this swashbuckling comedy; magic, mayhem and sea shanties galore to warm the cockles of your heart on a cold winter’s night.

The Whole Pack Theatre is delighted to be coming to Rye for the first time, performing our brand-new production of The Tempest at the historic Mermaid Inn.

Pirate Queen Prospero has ruled over her strange and wondrous island of misfits and vagabonds, rogues and scallywags. Prospero’s wild child Miranda has never known any other life. But when Prospero’s past comes crashing into her new world, magic, mayhem and madcap plots are sure to ensue.

After a “dazzling debut” production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and a four-star run of Richard II at the Camden Fringe, The Whole Pack Theatre is back with an all-new winter tour. This pirate-themed show is a swashbuckling comedy, with magic, mayhem and sea shanties galore to warm the cockles of your heart on a cold winter’s night.

The Whole Pack Theatre, founded in 2024, is an all-female theatre company whose primary goal is to afford women the opportunity to bring something dazzling and daring to traditional Shakespearean roles. Founders Megan Carter, Mary Anne Coleman, Jessamy James, and Meghan Louise Taylor recognised the rich untapped resource of passionate, experienced, creative women whose work deserves to be given a platform - and set out to do just that. “Women contain multitudes,” says Megan Carter. “And we should be able to see all shades and facets of ourselves represented on stage.”
