East Sussex Wildlife Rescue & Ambulance Service (WRAS) is a front line rescue service to help people who find sick, injured and orphaned wildlife across East Sussex. Every year WRAS receives over 20,000 resulting in around 5-6,000 casualties being helped each year.
The charity operates a veterinary ambulance service along with its own Casualty Care Centre registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. This is based at Whitesmith which is located on the A22 equal distance between Hailsham, Lewes and Uckfield.
The charity is an award winning community charity and founder Trevor Weeks was honoured in the Queen's Birthday Honours List 2012, when he was awarded the MBE for services to Animal Welfare.
It is also involved in educational work, and can give illustrated talks to community groups and colleges for a charge. The charity also takes in work placement students too.
