The Brighton Philharmonic is the professional orchestra of Brighton & Hove, performing regularly at Brighton Dome Concert Hall between October and March.
The Brighton Phil is one of the leading professional orchestras on the south coast, yet it is one of the few remaining British orchestras to survive without any public funding. The orchestra draws its regular players from a pool of high-calibre musicians who regularly work with some of the finest orchestras in the world, and attracts prestigious soloists and guest conductors. The enthusiasm of our loyal following is the envy of many a London concert hall!
The orchestra's artistic mission is to bring the very highest standards of live orchestral music and innovative programming to the widest possible audience. We entertain thousands of music-lovers from across Sussex and beyond with our annual series of Sunday afternoon concerts at Brighton Dome. Our popular New Year's Eve Viennese Gala is a well-established part of the festive season in the city.
Our musicians run music workshops in local schools to inspire a new generation of classical music-lovers, culminating each season in an open rehearsal for schoolchildren at Brighton Dome when the participants, their siblings, parents and teachers can experience the sight and sound of a full orchestra rehearsing the piece they learnt about in their workshop.
