Description
Building a sustainable future for Rye.
Transition Rye has several sub-groups which run a range of activities to benefit the community and the environment. Each group runs its own affairs, but considers themselves a part of the overall Transition Rye initiative.
The current sub-groups are:
- Recycle Swap Shop, which enables local households to bring along goods they no longer need, and take away goods that other people have brought. This saves everyone money and is good for the environment as it promotes re-using things instead of consigning them to landfill.
- Community Garden, which now has the use of a parcel of land next to Love Lane allotments in Rye. This will be used for an orchard and raised beds for vegetables, with access to all members of the community who want to join in. There will also be social events at the site. See the Community Garden Facebook page for more information.
- Communications group, which looks after the website, facebook and twitter for Transition Rye, runs the email distribution list (write to [email protected] if you'd like to join this list), plans how to communicate our work to the people of Rye and the surrounding area, and also runs the Green Drinks social event on the 15th of every month at The Queen's Head in Rye.
