Weald Allotments has a long history and we celebrated our 100 year birthday in 2012. Currently we have more than 400 allotment holders with a plot on the Weald site. Plot holders are members of the Weald Allotment and Gardeners Association (WAGA).
The allotment shop is not just for allotment holders; the general public can come and buy from us too. We stock an excellent range of seeds, high quality compost and lots of specialist allotment equipment. Members of the Association and members of the general public can purchase a Supporters’ Card entitling them to discounts on every purchase. The Shop is run by volunteers and is normally open 10am to 1pm on Saturday and Sunday.
The Weald Community Food Project (previously known as the Community Fridge) is a community project run entirely by volunteers to help reduce food waste. A team of foragers collects food with, near to use by, or close to best before dates, from the local supermarkets.
We distribute fresh, ambient, chilled and frozen food as well as plants, herbs and flowers.
We open Thursday in the Weald allotment kitchen, from 10am to 12noon and on Sunday from 10am until it’s gone.
Anyone can donate food, anyone can take 5 items, no questions asked, no hassle. We ask for a voluntary contribution of £1 to cover our overheads. Our objective is to reduce food waste.
