Wadhurst Commemoration Hall

The Institute, Commemoration Hall and Field is set in the centre of the picturesque market town of Wadhurst, East Sussex, near to the Kent border, close to the spa town of Tunbridge Wells, and just over a mile from the mainline station.

Wadhurst Institute, Hall and Field was set up in 1923 to run the newly built village hall and recreation field for the benefit of the inhabitants of the Parish of Wadhurst, providing somewhere to meet for leisure and recreation.

The Commemoration Hall was originally built to commemorate the local service personnel who lost their lives in World War 1, and has served as the centre of village life since the early 1920s. Both hall and field are now a living War Memorial.

The Hall offers an ideal location for wedding receptions as it is only a short walk from St Peter & St Paul’s Church and also hosts engagement parties, birthdays, anniversaries, funeral wakes, dances, quiz nights, theatrical productions, community cinema, events held by other local organisations, as well as offering a meeting venue for businesses. It is also home to the local library.

Its location on the High Street, makes it the perfect venue for the local Farmers & Crafters Market, Jumble Sales and community events.

The field boasts one of the most fabulous views in the area, and is home to the Wadhurst Football Team, Cricket Club and Bowls Club (which has a reputation for having one of the best greens in the South East of England). The field is also ideal just to take some time out, to walk, play, or simply sit and relax on a bench and soak up the view.

The institute building houses a number of local businesses… including Graham the Barber who has been cutting the hair of Wadhurst for over 40 years!
