At Nip in the Bud®, we create free, easy-to-use resources to help parents, carers and school professionals to recognise the early signs and to support children facing mental health challenges or who are neurodiverse, giving them the best chance to thrive.
We produce short films combining mental health expertise with engaging storytelling to make impactful, evidence-based resources. These films are complemented with downloadable factsheets, blogs and podcasts, providing a comprehensive toolkit designed to raise awareness and promote early intervention.
Our evidence-led approach involves working closely with paediatric mental health professionals, educationalists, children and their families. Our resources include information on anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, eating disorders, and self-harm. We also address ADHD, Conduct Disorders/ODD, Dyslexia, and Autism Spectrum Disorders.
By using our resources, local councils can help ensure early diagnosis and effective intervention for children, reducing the risk of these conditions becoming more serious later on.
Our resources are for anyone working with children aged 3-16, including:
- Parents & Families
- Carers & Foster Families
- Teachers & Teaching Assistants
- Social Workers & Health Practitioners
- Childminders & Home Educators
- Community Support Teams & Club Leaders
Our resources include the different series called “Tips for Teachers”, “Tips for Parents & Carers”, and “Early Intervention”, all of which provide practical advice and signpost people to other third-sector support groups. Other supportive information can be found under the Practical Guides and Emotional Wellbeing sections. Our recent film and podcast explains the hidden dangers for children and young people of the use of Smartphones and Social Media with a comprehensive factsheet with guidance.
