Description
Hansel wants to keep everything he can for himself, whilst Gretel shares what precious little she has with a beautiful bird. Their father despairs of finding work, and their mother despairs of ever having enough food for them all ever again. In desperation they leave their children in the woods facing a perilous journey. Can Hansel and Gretel work together to trick the greedy witch and follow their hearts (and a cheeky bird) back home?
This moving production of a well-known tale, widely praised by previous audiences, is recounted with warmth, humour, and a puppet or two. Still resonant today, the story of Hansel and Gretel portrays the courage and love that it takes for parents and children to survive in a hostile and selfish world.
