We are the first ever Beach Tennis Club to be set up in the UK. A small but growing club with members of all ages and abilities.
Beach Tennis has been around for 40 years, starting up in Italy with more and more countries playing the sport over recent years. The sport is a cross between Badminton, Tennis and Volleyball, played on the same size court as Beach Volleyball, 8 x 16 m and the net height is 1.7m. Scoring is similar to tennis, there's no let on service and at 40-40 a deciding point is played. The server serves behind the baseline and can serve to any player on the opposite side as there are no service lines.
A smaller paddle like racket is used which is made of fibreglass or carbon material and a mini orange ball is used. The sport is very easy to play, great fun, suitable for all abilities and most ages (min 10 - no upper age limit).
