Description
Are you working with a family where a child or young person is using aggression, violence or harmful behaviour towards a parent or carer?
Perhaps a parent has told you they are frightened of their child. There may be threats, intimidation, property damage or physical aggression. You may be seeing difficulties at school alongside escalating behaviour at home and be unsure how best to respond.
Join Capa First Response for a FREE one-day, online CPD session for professionals working with children, young people and families across East Sussex.
This practical training will help you:
- Recognise and understand child-to-parent aggression and harmful behaviour (CPA)
- Explore what may be sitting behind the behaviour, rather than focusing only on what you can see
- Understand the impact of trauma, attachment, regulation and neurodivergence
- Respond to parents and carers in ways that reduce shame, blame and isolation
- Increase confidence in asking about aggression and harm within the family
- Consider risk and safety for the whole family
- Develop practical strategies that can be used in your work with families
- Understand when and how families can access further specialist support
This isn't about blaming children or parents. It's about understanding what is happening and knowing how to respond.
Who is it for?
The day is relevant to professionals across Early Help, Children's Social Care, education, safeguarding, family support, youth services, domestic abuse services, health, SEND, policing and the voluntary/community sector.
